Dr. Gang Zheng is board-certified in molecular genetics and hematopathology. Currently, he serves as a co-director of the Mayo Clinical genomics laboratory and holds a professorship in the department of laboratory medicine and pathology. Dr. Zheng is actively involved in implementing advanced molecular technologies in clinical diagnostics, particularly focusing on circulating cell-free DNA (cfDNA) cancer tests using next-generation sequencing.

His commitment to advancing the field is demonstrated through his role as an expert advisor in molecular diagnostics for CLSI (Clinical & Laboratory Standards Institute) and as the former chair for the molecular diagnostic committee of the International Society of Laboratory Hematology. Additionally, he co-chairs the document development committee on liquid biopsy methods for oncology at CLSI.

Dr. Zheng employs data mining techniques to enhance genomics data interpretation, with the goal of identifying clinically relevant disease entities based on genomic markers. His contributions include serving on editorial boards for multiple journals and being a speaker at national and international conferences. Dr. Zheng’s comprehensive approach, integrating genomic, morphologic, and clinical data, supports better clinical decision-making, showcasing his dedication to advancing molecular diagnostics in oncology.
